REPRO SHABBAT ACTION ITEMS FROM REV KELLI CLEMENT:
Action items shared by Rev Kelli Clement during the D'var Torah:
- If you have an abortion story or a story of reproductive loss, to the extent that it is safe for you, please tell your story. This is how we destigmatize abortion, separating from the shame that has so often been attached to this form of vital healthcare.
- People seeking abortion care, above all, need access to funding. To help make this possible, send your generous donations to: https://www.ourjustice.net/
- Contact your state lawmakers and urge them to pass the Repro Freedom Codification Act (repeals unconstitutional laws that limit access) HF91/SF70 and the Repro Freedom Defense Act (protects MN providers from out-of-state litigation) HF366/SF165.
- Get involved locally, and stay informed by going to UnRestrict https://unrestrictmn.org/get-involved/ and/or the NCJW MN Website at https://www.ncjwmn.org/

Rabbi Barry D. Cytron’s essay in the splendid catalogue from the Minnesota Institute of Art, Envisioning Evil, refers to efforts by scholars and clergy—Jewish and Christian—to “illumine the entangled relationship between religious teachings and the Nazi genocide” (p. 74). In this presentation, I will highlight advances in grappling with this “entangled relationship,” discuss contemporary challenges to building bridges of understanding, and propose possible new directions for American Christians in their relationship with Jews.

In 1961, coinciding with the televised trial of the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann, Lasansky began a series of drawings to grapple with the Holocaust. Confronted with the atrocities, he said, “I was full of hate, poison, and I wanted to spit it out.” “The Nazi Drawings” are his visceral response to the horrors committed in Nazi concentration camps.)

From vilna to suburbia: searching for a new/old identity (april, 2021)
Chaim Grade and Philip Roth were among the American Jewish community’s most illustrious 20th century authors. Two of their more famous works, Grade’s My Quarrel with Hersch Rasseyner (1948) and Roth’s Eli The Fanatic (1959) intersect each other in intriguing and informative ways. Join Professor Earl Schwartz and Rabbi Barry Cytron for a five-part exploration of these stories and their meanings for 21st century Jewish American life.
