8TH GRADERS DURING SMP

The Howie Stillman 8th Grade Leadership Program
Utilizing Moving Traditions’ curriculum, “Teaching the TA’s,” these eight sessions engages teens in how to teach, tutor, and work with younger students, providing leadership skills that will be valuable for these growing leaders. Free to register.

Shevet and Rosh Chodesh for 8th Graders
Utilizing Moving Traditions’ Shevet groups (teen boys*) and Rosh Hodesh groups (teen girls*), students gather over the course of nine sessions with an adult mentor using a dynamic curriculum as they experience a brave, sacred space for them to articulate their deepest concerns, consider the impact of gender norms on their daily lives, celebrate and support together through joys and challenges, be their authentic selves with their peers, and explore topics that matter most to them. Interested? Contact Rabbi Sammy Seid at [email protected].

*All of our teen groups are safe and inclusive spaces for youth to join as they self-identify. Nonbinary teens are welcome in whatever space they feel most comfortable. Free to register.

Heschel Society

SHabbat morning program TEEN TUTORS
8th Graders: This program starts students on the road to becoming SMP staff. The curriculum includes Ethics - emphasizing the Ethics of Speech, "Shmirat Lashon," leadership skills and tzedakah that inform their role as mentors of younger students; and a review of their prayer and Torah skills.

9th-12th Graders: It is a proud Adath tradition for teens to serve as SMP staff. This vital role engages these teens in Jewish life and teaches them responsibility, and the value of passing on our traditions. Service-based scholarships for Jewish summer camps and Israel trips are available to teens who serve as SMP staff. Contact Cantor Heather Seid, B'nai Mitzvah and Torah Reading Coordinator, at [email protected] to learn more.
