Adath Keruv Committee
Our Adath community is vibrant because of the many ways members identify: LGBTQ and straight, single and partnered, and in committed relationships with people of other faith traditions. Since 2005, the Keruv Committee has facilitated learning that leads to action, guidance, and practice that builds inclusive community. Keruv means drawing close. We strive to live up to the best version of a community, in which we draw close and embrace one another, a community in which interfaith households are vital and LGBTQ voices are centered, and in which we continue to explore how every person and household is seen for who they are. Come be part of our ongoing, exciting mission. Contact keruv@adath.net with any suggestions that can help us build inclusive community. |

Roberta "Robbie" Kaplan is the founding partner at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP. She is perhaps best known for successfully arguing before the United States Supreme Court on behalf of her client Edith Windsor in United States vs. Windsor, the landmark case in which the Supreme Court ruled that a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violated the U.S. Constitution by barring legally married same-sex couples from enjoying the wide-ranging benefits of marriage. In addition to an A.B. from Harvard College, Magna Cum Laude, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School (where she teaches a seminar on advanced civil procedure), Robbie holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Johns Hopkins University and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the Jewish Theological Seminary, among others.
