Remembering Stephanie...
It has been said that the sound of the ocean carries on through seashells found at the shore. For Adath, memories of Stephanie Sargent, a beloved Gan Shelanu teacher who passed away suddenly in 2011, carry on through the sound of laughter in children in the Gan hallways, and in the hearts of young families across our congregation. From her mismatched socks to her Rosh Hodesh traditions and love of books and reading—Stephanie's spirit is with us all.
Her family knew how much the Gan Shelanu Preschool meant to Stephanie and that they were to continue her commitment going forward. Therefore, we are honored to announce that her husband, Ralph Bernstein, and her sons, Daniel and Jacob Bernstein, have recently established the Stephanie Sargent Gan Shelanu Scholarship Fund. This permanent legacy will honor her memory by providing scholarships to help offset the cost of tuition for the Gan Shelanu Preschool and support for special projects as needed. |
The Shema prayer contains the powerful phrase l'ma'an tiz'k'ru, "so that that you shall remember." It won't be hard for all of us to remember Stephanie, who touched our lives by making us better people and the world a better place because she was in it.
