Remembering Michael Paul

It is often said that while God gives, God also takes. It is a heartfelt message for the Paul family. As a young couple joining Adath, Stephanie and Michael had the whole world at their feet. They were proud parents of baby Jessica, had established careers and were active in the community. Few were aware that Michael was born with a congenital heart defect in need of a second repair. With the heart repair complete, Stephanie and Michael completed their family with their son Colin, a child left at a synagogue's front door in need of a home.

When complications from Michael's heart defect took his life in December 2007, the Adath community surrounded the family. Today, more than thirteen years since Michael's passing, his memory remains very alive in our community, particularly at the Gan Shelanu. Whether it is gowns for Gan graduation or other special needs, the Michael Paul Memorial Fund has kept his great spirit alive.

Michael Paul
The Michael Paul Family Fund will support young families at Adath Jeshurun Congregation through scholarships and programming that build community. Michael's spirit will continue to be felt strongly in the life of this community and most importantly in the life of a family who was so precious to him.

No matter what age we attain in the world, life is a precious gift on loan to each of us to be used wisely and treasured deeply. Michael was a son, brother, nephew, husband, father, colleague, advocate, teacher and friend to many. His memory will continue to be a blessing in our community, touching hearts for many years to come.
