Planting for Future Generations
When we arrived in Minneapolis in 1987, we expected that we would spend a few years here and then head back to our hometown of Philadelphia, or go on to build our lives in some other area of the country that seemed appealing. We soon came to appreciate that the Twin Cities are a wonderful place to live (despite the weather) and that it has been an outstanding place to raise our family and to work to enhance the life of what we came to recognize as an incredibly vibrant Jewish community.
Our kids—Gabe, Tali and Elana—have now headed off to college and beyond, but they are deeply appreciative of the wonderful foundation that this community and our congregation provided to them. We are all very grateful for the opportunities that we have had to participate in this warm, caring Jewish community. |
To paraphrase the ancient rabbinic parable about the carob tree, which outlasts the one who plants it, "Just as past generations planted for us, so we plant for future generations." As we engaged in our financial planning, it was clear that we should express our intention to leave a bequest to the Adath Jeshurun Foundation, which was established to create a permanent legacy of support for our congregation. Given our appreciation that the synagogue is the single most important institution for maintaining Jewish life, we were honored to show our family's commitment to our Adath Jeshurun Congregation by making a provision for a future bequest.
We hope that many others in our congregation will take the opportunity to make their own commitment to the vitality of our congregation through current or future commitments to the Adath Jeshurun Foundation.
