Natalie Gerstein Atkin Gives Adath Words To Live By

Natalie z"l was a member of Adath for over 60 years. She was active in Women's League, served on their board, as well as wrote a column for the sisterhood newsletter for several years. An avid writer, she used to write book reviews for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and is a member of a journal group that has been in existence for over 15 years.

In June 2001, Natalie made a significant gift to the Jewish Community Foundation of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation to fund a charitable gift annuity, and The Adath Jeshurun Foundation is one of several beneficiaries. This planned gift will eventually benefit the Education Programming Fund of The Adath Jeshurun Foundation, which supports our education staff and all education programming—including babies and toddlers, Gan Shelanu, Sunday School, SMP, Youth, Adults, and Seniors.

Born and raised on the West Side of Saint Paul, Natalie Gerstein Atkin attended the Saint Paul Talmud Torah and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. She went on to study medical technology for four years at the University of Minnesota prior to marriage. After starting a family, she decided to re-enter the workforce as a teacher and taught fourth grade.
When asked why she decided to leave a legacy to Adath, Atkin responded, "How else can one make a difference except by passing it on?"

We appreciate Natalie's commitment to Adath's future and believe she has provided us words to live by. To learn more about creating an endowed legacy with The Adath Jeshurun Foundation, contact Talor Blustin at 952.545.2424 or [email protected].
