Goldfines Ensure Adath Will Continue to Be a Center of Jewish Life
The words of the prophet Hosea, inscribed on the wall of our chapel, often decorate a wedding Ketubah: "I will betroth you unto me forever...in justice...in righteousness... in loving kindness...in compassion...and in faithfulness." These words form a circle like a ring, without beginning and without end as is the circle of life.
Little did Harold Goldfine know when he married Cynthia Davis and the couple joined Adath Jeshurun as newlyweds in 1970 that the Synagogue would become an integral part of their Jewish circle of life and be there for them at the most important moments in their lives. Cynthia's relationship with Adath dates to her own childhood. She and her sister grew up in the congregation and were confirmed here. When she and Harold married at Adath, their connection evolved with the birth of their daughters, Elly, Marcy, and Sara, all three of whom were named in the congregation, attended Gan Shelanu Preschool, became B'not Mitzvah and were active in youth programming. |
Harold and Cindi have mourned the loss of two of their parents and other loved ones, all the while supported by the Adath community. According to Cindi, "Adath is part of our family. Our connection to the Synagogue goes back multiple generations. It is a place where our family has grown and continues to grow."
Forty years later, the Goldfines continue to be active Adath members and supporters. They have helped to mold our past, continue to support the present and recently informed us that the Adath Foundation is part of their estate plans, which will ensure a vital future for our Congregation.
The Goldfines continue to think about their next life stage at Adath, as their daughters Elly and Sara are now married. Two of their grandchildren so far have attended the Gan Shelanu Preschool and another will be attending in the near future.
We wish them a mazal tov on all their simchas and thank them for ensuring that Adath will continue to be a center of Jewish life for future generations.
