Our Programs

Gan Shelanu's preschool provides programs for children 20 months (as of September 1) - PreKindergarten. Classes are held each weekday during the nine-month school year, from September to May. Depending on the age of the child, you may choose from the following options:

  • Two day Toddler Class
  • Three day Toddler or Preschool Class
  • Five day Toddler, Preschool, or PreKindergarten Class

At Gan Shelanu Preschool, children are encouraged to explore, create and socialize in an exciting educational setting. Our professional, experienced staff will ensure that your child has an opportunity to grow and learn in a supervised, supportive environment. Gan Shelanu provides students with comfortable, welcoming classrooms where they will enjoy hands-on learning experiences, be exposed to a myriad of new activities, sing songs, play new games, interact socially with other children—while having oodles of fun! Our carefully planned curriculum encompass a variety of themes, including Jewish holidays and customs, Hebrew, math, science, and physical education. Our programs focus on socialization, self esteem and communication, as well as an introduction of early reading skills. Educational field trips and age-appropriate tzedakah projects are an important part of the Gan's curriculum.

Students at Gan Shelanu spend part of their day in their classroom with a teacher and an assistant teacher, and with children of the same age. Each of the different age groups follows a reading-readiness program designed for its level and needs. Each classroom contains state-of-the-art materials and equipment. In addition, Gan Shelanu boasts a wonderful Learning Center where students from different classes spend time together participating in a multitude of supplemental, exciting activities. The Learning Center is made up of different play or cognitive stations which include: Blocks, Living, Art, Science, Manipulative, Number, Language-Reading Readiness, Quiet Reading, and Dramatic Play Centers. The Learning Centers are operated by the staff so that the low ratio of children to adults permits a great degree of individualization.

Gan Shelanu also hosts diverse and exciting family events during the school year designed to enhance and enrich your child's experiences at the Gan.

Infant Program

Picture

As a new parent, one of the most important decisions you will make is choosing a childcare program for your infant. You want the best environment with loving and caring adults and a meaningful, enriching
program. In the Adath Jeshurun Congregation’s Beit Tinokot (House of Babies) Program, we provide a warm, affectionate, stimulating, safeand fun setting where your child’s social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs will be met. Our program creates opportunities for your baby to form relationships with loving and caring adults and other children. In Beit Tinokot, we provide a rich environment of learning materials, books and activities encouraging your infant to develop deeper and more complex understandings of the world around him/her. Our low staff ratio allows our staff to interact with your child on his/her level, providing a wonderful experience for your baby and piece of mind for you.The Infant Program is designed for children 6 weeks to approximately 16 months old. The infants receive individualized care and eat and sleep on their own schedules. Their day is made up of group play, story time, music, and time to explore their environment.

Transitional Toddlers

When children are approximately 16 months old, they move to the Young Toddler Room. At that time, our youngest students “transition” from individualized care to becoming part of a group. Their day consists of free play, circle time, art and large muscle activities. They eat and nap as a group.

As our transitional toddlers become toddlers, they will move up an age group to our Toddler Room. Their days consist of educational classroom activities, dramatic play in our Learning Center and planting seeds of Jewish education.
