At Adath Chesed Shel Emes Cemetery on Monday, May 29 Memorial Day and Holocaust Remembrance will be observed on Monday, May 29 at 10:30 AM at the congregation cemetery, Adath Chesed Shel Emes. The cemetery is located at 3740 Winnetka Avenue North in Crystal. Our key note speaker will be Ken Engel. Ken is the son of two survivors and member of the Speakers Bureau of the JCRC of Minnesota and the Dakotas/Tolerance Minnesota, he speaks with school, college, municipal, synagogue, church, educator, industry and private groups, clubs and organizations about the Holocaust, his parents' experiences during World War II, Judaism, Israel and related subjects. He is also a member of the Coordinating Council of Generations of the Shoah International (GSI), a group of Jewish leaders of Second Generation and other Holocaust-related organizations which networks and shares information and resources on the Holocaust and related issues with Holocaust survivor families, Holocaust organizations and institutions worldwide. An attorney in private practice in downtown Minneapolis, he and his family live in Minneapolis, MN.
Boy Scout Troop 738 and Cub Scout Pack 738 of the Sabes JCC will assist in the program. Cantor Etta Bernstein will lead the singing of our National Anthem and prayers. Dave Haberman will be our trumpet player and will assist in the raising of the flag and remembrance of veterans by playing taps. This annual event is free and open to the entire community.
