Letter from the President
Dear Fellow Congregants,
Shanah tovah umetukah! On behalf of our clergy, staff and Board of Trustees, I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and sweet new year.
This year, our High Holiday services will be blessed with the addition of many new congregants from Bnai Emet Synagogue. We look forward to welcoming them as we collectively make Adath a stronger and more vibrant community. In addition, we are so appreciative of the generosity of Robert and Corinne “Corky” Neuman and their family and the Max and Gertrude Newman – Charles and Phyllis Newman Foundation for purchasing sufficient copies of the new Mahzor Lev Shalem for our entire congregation to use during services.
As we reflect upon the year gone by, I am so pleased at how our congregation has embraced the eleven Bold Statements to Guide our Future. (See the Adath website, www.adathjeshurun.org for the complete list.) These statements affirm our commitment to being a warm and welcoming place, where each of us feels connected to Judaism and each other. They highlight the importance of Jewish education, teen involvement, Shabbat, Israel, and the Conservative Movement. The statements also encourage us to utilize mentors and technology and challenge us to reduce financial barriers and be intentional Jews.
May 5772 be a year where we realize many of the aspirations embodied by these statements. Adath belongs to all of us and I encourage you to become more involved as a participant, donor or volunteer. May the sound of the shofar usher in a time of peace and prosperity and a world full of joy.
I hope you find these sacred High Holy Days inspiring and meaningful.
B’Shalom,
Mike Greenstein,
President
