COMMUNITY-WIDE S'LICHOT PROGRAM AND SERVICE
Saturday, September 4, 2010
Temple Israel, 2324 Emerson Avenue South, Minneapolis
In a world where we multitask and yell at others in capital letters
through
computer screens…have we lost the art of civility?
Join us at Temple Israel for a S’lichot discussion regarding the Jewish concept of derech eretz, “polite, respectful and civilized behavior,” with Rabbis Norman Cohen, Harold Kravitz and Marcia Zimmerman. Together we will study the Jewish texts that guide our behavior, and analyze how technology affects our personal interactions. A humorous monologue from Rabbi Sim Glaser will start the discussion.
8:30 p.m. Art Exhibit and Wine & Cheese Reception
S’lichot: Redemption, Reconciliation and Rebirth
9:00 p.m. Havdallah Service
9:30 p.m. Derech Eretz Panel Discussion
10:30 p.m. Dessert Reception
11:00 p.m. S’lichot Service
The liturgy and music of the S’lichot Service instill a mood of solemnity as a prelude to the sacred themes of the High Holy Days season.
