Rabbi Daniel Brenner Introduces “Shevet Achim: The Brotherhood” for Teen Boys
Regional Training Weekend, September 23 - 25 @ Adath Jeshurun

Rabbi Daniel Brenner will introduce Moving Tradition’s “Shevet Achim: The Brotherhood” program. The Director of Moving Tradition’s Initiatives for Boys and Men, he will train leaders from midwestern states here at Adath throughout the weekend.

Rabbi Brenner will speak to the congregation during the Shabbat Morning Service on September 24. We especially encourage teen boys and their families to attend services that day.

Adath is one of a handful of congregations offering this exciting pilot program for teen boys this fall. Boys in 8th grade will be invited to participate. This new program is designed to help teenage boys connect meaningfully with their Judaism, their masculinity, their peers, and themselves. Each teen group stays together with the same group leader through high school.

Steven Kane will be Adath’s first group leader. A local advisor for BBYO, Steven has been a program director and special needs advocate and counselor at Herzl Camp. He grew up at Adath Jeshurun and is a graduate of Indiana University.

Moving Traditions, (a national nonprofit whose mission is to inspire women and men, and boys and girls, to engage more deeply with Jewish life by examining Judaism through a gender lens) has a similar program for girls. “Rosh Chodesh: It’s a Girl Thing!” is already in use at Adath, engaging groups of Adath teen girls.
