Lifecycle Events

Adath Jeshurun is the center of celebration and remembrance for important events in our member's lives.

BRIT MILA
Our Rabbis and Hazzan are available to officiate with a mohel in the Brit Milah (circumcision) ceremony that welcomes a baby boy into the covenant of the Jewish people. The synagogue is available for your bris, or you may choose to have the ceremony at your home. Our Rabbis and Hazzan are available wherever needed. Contact the Rabbis’ Assistant for more information.

BABY NAMING
Naming and blessing a Jewish girl is her first welcome into Jewish life. The naming may take place within the congregational community at Shabbat services. Members may also choose to have a private naming ceremony at the synagogue or at home. Our Rabbis and Hazzan are available wherever needed. Contact the Rabbis’ Assistant for more information.

BAR/BAT MITZVAH
When a child comes of age it is a simcha for the immediate family, the synagogue family, and the entire Jewish community. As a child becomes Bar/Bat Mitzvah, he/she takes on responsibilities and privileges of becoming an adult in the Jewish community, which requires a great deal of preparation and commitment. Adath encourages the participation of all members and will strive to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities. Our shul is blessed with many B’nai Mitzvah each year. Dates are reserved up to four years in advance, so plan ahead and learn what is required. Contact the Rabbis’ Assistant for more information. Click Here to view the B'nai Mitzvah Manual.

WEDDINGS
Rabbi Kravitz, Rabbi Brusso and Hazzan Buckner are available to officiate at weddings and will gladly meet with you to help you prepare for your simcha. The synagogue offers several settings for weddings of all sizes. Ceremonies may be held in the main Sanctuary or the Chapel. There are numerous options for your celebration at Adath Jeshurun. To schedule an appointment with one of the Rabbis, contact the Rabbi’s Assistant.

BEREAVEMENT
The Rabbis and Hazzan of Adath Jeshurun are available to assist you and comfort your family in your hour of need. During the entire Shiva period the Adath family can provide a Minyan leader at your home. Adath’s Chevra Kavod Hamet (burial society) is available to provide traditional Jewish funerals, offering a special sense of spiritual connectedness and consolation.
