Youth Education

Adath welcomes the participation of children and families with a wide range of skills and abilities.

SHABBAT MORNING PROGRAM (SMP) is the cornerstone of educating our young congregants for full participation in synagogue life. All children entering 5th grade and above who plan to celebrate Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Adath Jeshurun are required to attend SMP.

Maccabees and Kadima
Maccabees gives 5th and 6th grade students the opportunity to meet and develop friendships with Jewish youth in a welcoming and supportive environment. Kadima encourages 7th and 8th graders to become more involved in their community while offering a fun and exciting place to meet and socialize with Jewish friends.

6th GRADE FAMILY KALLAH
Every year we offer an opportunity to enjoy a weekend of adult and child learning sessions, family Shabbat services and activities, singing and playing in a beautiful camp atmosphere for families with children in the 6th grade.

USY (United Synagogue Youth)
9th-12th grade students are invited to join USY, a youth group created to meet the social and spiritual needs of Jewish teens.

Rosh Hodesh: It's a Girl Thing!
Girls in 7th and 8th grade celebrate monthly on Rosh Hodesh, the ancient New Moon holiday. This fun and empowering program builds Jewish identity, self-esteem and leadership skills.

Confirmation Class
Tenth graders study with Rabbi Brusso and Rabbi Kravitz, exploring important issues which have contemporary or personal meaning. Each class member also participates in a community service project. Confirmation is celebrated on Shavuot in June.

Our Educational Partners
The Talmud Torah of Minneapolis’ afternoon Hebrew school and the Minneapolis Jewish Day School are Adath’s partners in educating our children in Judaism from kindergarten through middle school and high school. Both these schools have won national recognition for their excellence.
