Welcome to Gan Shelanu! - Click Here for 2010-2011 Registration Information

Gan Shelanu is the Adath Jeshurun Congregation's early childhood program for children aged six weeks through preKindergarten.  The objective of Gan Shelanu is to provide a rich variety of learning experiences intended to stimulate the cognitive and social development of your child within a Jewish context.  When you enroll your child in any of Gan Shelanu's programs, you become part of our community.   By sharing holiday celebrations and watching your child learn Jewish customs and traditions, you and your child will make lifelong friends and become part of the larger Adath community.

BEIT TINOKOT  (Your infant's home away from home!)

Gan Shelanu's Beit Tinokot is comprised of two programs: the Infant Program and Transitional Toddler Program. Beit Tinokot offers a childcare setting where the staff is warm and caring; where your child is safe and nurtured; and where values and a supportive community help to make your child's world a wonderful place.

INFANT PROGRAM
Gan Shelanu's Infant Program serves children 6 weeks-16 months.  We strive to give infants as much freedom as possible to interact with their environment. We provide a warm, affectionate, stimulating, safe and fun setting where our youngest charges' social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs are met. The babies receive individualized care in a surounding filled with group play, storytime and music.  The Infant Room provides a rich environment of learning materials, books and  activities encouraging our babies to develop deeper and more complex understandings of the world around them.  Our low staff ratio allows our staff to interact with our youngest children on their level, providing a wonderful experience for our infants and piece of mind for parents.

TRANSITIONAL TODDLER PROGRAM
When children turn 16 months old, they move to the Transitional Toddler Program.  Children at this age transition from individualized care to becoming part of a group  Their day consists of free play, circle time, art and large muscle activities.  They eat and nap as a group.

GAN SHELANU PRESCHOOL (Fostering your child's imagination and creativity!)

Gan Shelanu's preschool provides programs for children 20 months (as of September 1)- preKindergarten.  Classes are held each weekday during the nine-month school year, from September to May.  Depending on the age of the child, you may choose from the following options:

* Two day Toddler Class
* Three day Toddler or Preschool Class
* Five day Toddler, Preschool or PreKindergarten Class

At Gan Shelanu Preschool, children are encouraged to explore, create and socialize in an exciting educational setting.  Our professional, experienced staff will ensure that your child has an opportunity to grow and learn in a supervised, supportive environment. Gan Shelanu provides students with comfortable, welcoming classrooms where they will enjoy hands-on learning experiences, be exposed to a myriad of new activities, sing songs, play new games, interact socially with other children--while having oodles of fun!  Our carefully planned curriculum encompass a variety of themes including Jewish holidays and customs, Hebrew,  math, science, and physical education.  Our programs focus on socialization, self esteem, and communication, as well as an introduction of early reading skills.  Educational fieldtrips and age-appropriate tzedakah projects are an important part of the Gan's curriculum.

Students at Gan Shelanu spend part of their day in their classroom with a teacher and an assistant teacher and with children of the same age.  Each of the different age groups follows a reading-readiness program designed for its level and needs.  Each classroom contains state-of-the-art materials and equipment. In addition, Gan Shelanu boasts a wonderful Learning Center where students from different classes spend time together participating in a multitude of supplemental, exciting activities. The Learning Center is made up of different play or cognitive stations which include: Block; Living; Art ; Science; Manipulative; Number; Language-Reading Readiness; Quiet Reading and Dramatic Play Centers. The Learning Centers are operated by the staff so that the low ratio of children to adults permits a great degree of individualization.

Gan Shelanu also hosts diverse and exciting family events during the school year designed to enhance and enrich your child's experiences at the Gan.

CHILDCARE (Providing quality care before and after the school day!)

Gan Shelanu Preschool is open year-round,  Monday-Thursday from 7:00 am -5:45 pm.  On Friday afternoons we close earlier (4:30-5:00 pm) so families can return home and enjoy Shabbat together.  Once your child is enrolled in any Gan Shelanu program, you may choose what childcare options fit your needs, space permitting.  The Gan's childcare program enhances and enriches the Gan's morning program-- providing special projects and activities for your child to enjoy.

CAMP MISHPACHA  (A summer full of fun!)

Camp Mishpacha is Gan Shelanu's summertime camp.  Camp Mishpacha is filled with weeks of outdoor games, water play, nature activities, gardening projects and more!  With an emphasis on hands-on messy fun in the sun, there is never a dull moment at Camp Mishpacha!  In addition to the trained and caring adult staff, Camp Mishpacha has a bevy of fun-loving, energetic college-aged and teen counselors (many of whom were Mishpacha campers themselves).
