Women's League
This has been a fabulous year for Women’s League!
We have had programs and events that offered anything and everything that you would enjoy and learn from. The year began with a Diva Day where vendors offered beautiful jewelry, cosmetics, purses, manicures and exercise equipment. We co-sponsored a Retreat with very interesting speakers and enjoyable sessions.
Our Torah Fund Dinner with Beth El and B’nai Emet (and of course, a winter storm) was wonderful. In January a student from JTS spoke at Women’s League Shabbat about all that we do for the Seminary. We held a Book Club program and many Casual Days where we played Maj and did our crafts. Our Interfaith Luncheon was a huge success with nearly 90 people attending from around our community, and enter-tainment by Don Stolz, from the Old Log Theater.
Our women had a ton of fun making hamentashen, and we had a successful sale as part of the Purim Carnival. In March the three Conservative congregations held an educational program, "A Conversation about Breast and Ovarian Cancer– Genetic Links and Facts." We held a huge Garage Sale and made lots of money, allowing us to con-tribute generously to the USY plus donations to STEP and other charitable organizations.
We staff a beautiful Judaica Gift Shop filled with gift items and much more. Also, we published a calendar that includes Jewish holidays, congregational Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations and yahrzeits.
We broke our record when eight women flew to Dallas, Texas for an amazing regional conference, and in May we held a delightful Tree of Life luncheon with entertainment by the Gan children and a klezmer band. I must add that we were the only synagogue in Minnesota that met its Torah Fund goal this year! Yea to us!
Women's League Calendar
Our beautiful Women’s League’s Calendar for 5770-5771 (2010-2011) is presently being prepared. The calendar is a great way to mark the dates of important events at the synagogue and in your own personal life, and is helpful in keeping track of Jewish holidays, Shabbat, b'nai mitzvah, yahrzeits, etc. Everyone will have the opportunity to place personal or business ads, with ad fees starting at $50. For details, please call Judy Goldstein, 952.545.8584, or Raleigh Brand, 612.926.7871. The calendar is a wonderful way to get your message out to a multitude of people in our community and elsewhere. Please see the coupon on this page.
